We would strongly advice you to stay away from bold and dark colors as they make the room look smaller. Use light colors for the flooring and tiles and brighten the bathroom by using bold colors for accessories. Though you use neutral colors for your bathroom one can always lighten it by using spot lights or hanging lights.

The other thing worth considering is the size of the fixtures. Obviously one would not like to compromise on the comfort but oversized fixtures will unnecessarily occupy space and make you feel cramped. One can replace the cabinet style vanity with a wall-hung sink; it will open up the space for entrance by slimming down the wash area. But if you opt for this, then you will have to make place to keep your other accessories, for which one can make use of metal racks and shelves. They make great storage areas and have the advantage of leaving things open, airy and light. Use different colors and shades as the things kept on these racks will be open to public view.

The last thing one can make use of is a mirror, as things are reflected one can tend to ignore the space of the bathroom. This works especially well if hung opposite the door. It is not compulsary to use just one mirror. Try and use more at different angles.
